Who Do You Think You Are?

Who Do You Think You Are?

It still amazes me when I enter conversations with people who begin to dictate orders and commands for me to execute.
  • It still amazes me when I enter conversations with people who begin to dictate orders and commands for me to execute. Granted, these conversations are in the context of clearly inappropriate demands. My natural tendency, however, is to comply or follow what someone else may expect of me. This tendency can be very unhealthy and I have had to learn to analyze whether I am losing sight of my character when I simply comply with someone’s expectations. Realizing there is a reason why I wanted to please other people more than being true to myself, I had to determine the root cause of this unhealthy compliance. There had been times where I trusted what others thought while diminishing my own thoughts or even what God said in His word. This is a form of idolatry. Obeying man instead of God can have a core demonic influence (Jer. 17:5-6). I’ve  had to declare that I am an heir to the kingdom of God through the abiding relationship I have with Jesus Christ. I choose to believe God is the only One who validates me – not others, not the enemy, nor any lies I erroneously believed. Then, I’d renounce the demonic influence or any known/unknown judgmental words spoken against me, in the name of Jesus. Taking every thought captive has to be a daily practice in my life in order to walk victoriously in who God has called me to be – a fearless heir to His Kingdom!
  • Make it a point to evaluate your thoughts daily. Ask yourself if your thinking is aligning with God’s truth, the accusations of the enemy, or some erroneous belief you have. Allow the word of God to have the final say in whatever you believe.
